On December 11, 2009, the agreement to dissolve the GE Fanuc Automation joint venture was finalized, and we are now operating independently under our new name GE Intelligent Platforms. It is my belief that GE Intelligent Platforms is better positioned today than ever to help you take advantage of the inevitable economic upturn.

As we begin the next phase in GE Intelligent Platforms, we will focus on providing you with a sustainable advantage through industry-leading technology and the passion and expertise of our people. We will continue to invest in our product and solution platforms that allow you to compete and succeed in a challenging economy. In addition, we intend to utilize our world-class enterprise software as a platform for faster growth for the entire GE portfolio.

This change is good news because it allows us to better support your present and future needs. We’ve made huge strides in software and services, embedded systems and control systems over the last few years, and our focus is only going to increase going forward. We can offer you market leading capabilities in a number of key areas, and we are ready to deliver those products when you need them to pursue new opportunities.

Strategic internal investment has delivered significant new products that are already improving productivity and saving customers money. This year alone we have introduced more than 50 new products across our portfolio. Our team has worked hard to provide you with solutions that work with you to make your businesses work.

Enhancements and additions to our software portfolio, including our breakthrough Proficy Workflow work process management solution, a product that is achieving great acclaim for empowering teams and streamlining production, to the newly-announced Proficy Troubleshooter and Proficy Cause+, along with a new version of our Historian solution, strengthen the foundation of the Proficy operations excellence platform for plant and enterprise data-driven performance management. Our SCADA software teams have provided web clients for both iFIX and CIMPLICITY that enable informed decisions from anywhere, anytime -- "real-time-data-for-everyone." These productivity solutions deliver functionality seamlessly into a web browser requiring no additional development effort and can be set up within minutes making you more in control of your operations.

We’ve also made highly targeted external investments to bring new technologies into the company. Last year at this time I told you more about our acquisition of the MOST process control product line. This year, we introduced the PAC8000 controller that is bringing process control to rugged environments. This is an area we have a lot of experience in working with our Military & Aerospace customers through our Embedded products group.

Of course, we will continue to work with FANUC in a commercial relationship related to GE’s motion control and motor products, like our PACMotion controller, with no interruption in supply of these components. In addition, we intend to support our CNC customers in the Americas through our CNC services business.

GE has always been known for working with the best and the brightest and this year our Embedded team did that in a number of instances. We continued to introduce new VPX products at an industry-leading rate and have supported the OpenVPX standard since its inception. We also enhanced our communications portfolio with new product introductions using AdvancedTCA, Packet Processors, and Ethernet switches. Most recently, we introduced new products using NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs) that can be used as general purpose processors utilizing NVIDIA’s award-winning CUDA architecture, delivering increased processing capability for applications such as radar, signals intelligence and video surveillance and interpretation.

I intend to continue this keen focus on products, services and solutions that give you a sustainable competitive advantage.
