Proficy Process Systems – Version 2.0 - Now AvailableGE Intelligent Platforms is pleased to announce Proficy Process Systems - Version 2.0. Proficy Process Systems 2.0 introduces features that will help customers reduce the time and cost associated with design, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of their system. Enhancements have been made to simplify the initial system configuration as well as its long term maintenance. To improve daily operations new process function blocks have been added including controller diagnostics with faceplates. To support the global success the product is experiencing, support for localized alarm messages with embedded variables has been added. One of the key differentiated values we provide our customers is a system with a flexible architecture that is easy to use, and is user expandable. In Proficy Process Systems Version 2.0 we added the ability for users to add their own function blocks and faceplates in addition to the extensive list of ones provided with the system. This allows System Integrators, OEM, and End Users to create standard blocks specific to their own business applications, and then benefit from that in the designing, commissioning, and ongoing operation and maintenance of the system. Key features: Control Modules Control Modules are Proficy Process Systems specific User Defined Function Blocks (UDFB) that provides enhanced capabilities suitable for process applications. In addition to the normal UDFB functionalities, Control Module includes the following capabilities:
Single Point of Configuration The single point of configuration enhancements allow users to perform all the key PPS configuration task within the Logic Developer. This includes HMI properties, Security configurations, and Historian configurations. An upgrade tool is provided to easily allow existing projects to bring the HMI data into the Engineering Workstation. Common Notification Service The Common Notification Service is a new PPS service responsible for detecting configuration changes and notify the PPS components (iFix, Cimplicity, and Historian) that subscribe to the service with the appropriate changes in the system. PAC8000 Controller Integration with iFIX PPS 2.0 has been enhanced to provide data and graphic integration between the PAC8000 controller and iFix in PPS. Proficy Process Systems is unique with its flexible and expandable architecture. Due to its open design, customers have the freedom to choose which HMI visualization technology they can use, iFIX or CIMPLICITY, and which controllers they wish to use PACSystems or PAC8000. Alarm Enhancements Localized Alarm Messages - PPS 2.0 has been enhanced to support Localized Alarm Messages. Users can configure the alarm messages in the language of their choice within the Engineering Workstation Logic Developer and operators will then be able to read the alarms in their local language. Alarm Variables - Additional alarm variables (%VAL – alarm value, %EU – Engineering Unit, %STATE – Alarm State) are added to the Logic Developer for alarm message configuration. New Function Blocks “Split Range” function block - Split range control involves one PID loop that is used to manipulate two process devices. An example of split range control is controlling temperature in a chemical reactor where there is both a cooling element and heating element. The split range block interfaces with the ADV_PID block to split the ADV_PID output over two or more ranges; e.g. heating and cooling range. “Controller Diagnostics” function block & faceplate - Provides a quick and simple method of controller diagnostics to the Operator Consoles. The controller status function block has a shared EGD exchange with other diagnostic blocks, and has mimics/dynamos along with supporting faceplates. Productivity Tools Bulk configuration - Productivity tools for bulk configuration changes through spreadsheet imports and exports including control module and alarms objects creation and modification have been added. As a reminder - Never upgrade a technology that is part of Process Systems separately. Example – a new version of iFIX or CIMPLICITY is released. You must not install this onto a Process Systems node. You must wait for the Process Systems version that includes it. Installing a separate product CD or DVD onto a Process System could seriously affect the operation of the system and is not supported.
