Proficy Process Systems – Version 1.6GE Intelligent Platforms is pleased to announce Proficy Process Systems - Version 1.6. This new release will provide support for PACSystems Rx3i High Availability Controllers and introduces Proficy Process Systems with PAC8000 Controllers as GE Intelligent Platforms’s DCS offering for industries such as Oil and Gas. In addition to these two powerful new controller offerings, several new features and enhancements have been added to help you improve your efficiencies, reduce your operational costs, and create a sustainable advantage. We have also introduced three new product levels - Proficy Process Systems - Premier Edition, Proficy Process Systems - Standard Edition, and Logic Developer - Process Edition to provide you with the freedom and flexibility to implement the system you need to achieve your sustainable business goals. Other key features: Interlock Block An Interlock Block has been added that receives all the interlocks for a given device and combines by means of a configured Boolean equation (typically ORed) to create a master interlock that interfaces with either the DC2S or DC3S blocks. The block also detects and time stamps the first interlock to transition from its normal to interlocked state after the device has successfully started. The Interlock function block comes with Mimics and Faceplates for easy graphic creation and operation. Override Block Override control involves two or more independent PID loops used to manipulate one process device such as a modulating valve. The PID loop calling for the greatest corrective action in a pre-defined safe direction will override the other PID loops. Typically this control is used where there is a primary process variable to be controlled with a constraint; e.g. regulating a temperature with the constraint of not allowing a pressure to fall below its minimum value. The Override block interfaces with Advanced PID blocks to coordinate and select the appropriate PID output. The Override block will pass whichever PID output calls for the least stroke to the valve and coordinate the external reset feedback for the upstream Advanced PID blocks in order to prevent windup of the inactive controller. Improved Visualization and Operation An enhancement has been made to allow multiple iFix faceplates to be open simultaneously in the visualization screens allowing for increased flexibility and control by the plant operators. In addition, several of the faceplates provided with Proficy Process Systems have been updated to improve operational effectiveness as well as their look and feel. Improved Alarming The Proficy Alarm Viewer user interface has been enhanced to improve the display, animation, and acknowledgement of alarms in the system. The time stamping of alarms has been updated to include additional timestamps for Alarm Acknowledgement and Clear times. To simplify configuration and operation, dynamic configuration of the OPC A&E Server has been introduced as well. Improved High Availability Proficy Process Systems 1.6 introduces support for the PACSystems RX3i high availability controllers in addition to the already supported RX7i controllers. PACSystems High Availability solutions ensure uninterrupted control of your applications and processes with total transparency. They leverage industry-leading technologies to meet your needs for enhanced speed and performance, increased memory, built-in hardware redundancy and ease of use. Ease of Use Several Ease of Use features have been added in this release. They include the exposure of additional function block member variables, a Configurable EGD Status Register, the automatically removal of EGD exchanges when blocks are removed, and the ability for users to install ME View and PC Control from Proficy Process Systems DVD. In addition, a new Proficy Process Systems Technical Manual makes obtaining the most out of your system easier than ever. As a reminder - Never upgrade a technology that is part of Process Systems separately. Example – a new version of iFIX or CIMPLICITY is released. You must not install this onto a Process Systems node. You must wait for the Process Systems version that includes it. Installing a separate product CD or DVD onto a Process System could seriously affect the operation of the system and is not supported.
