What's New in Version 8.1?

More flexible classes - 8.1 introduces enhancements that enable more flexible classes which speed new product development and lower the total cost of maintaining large scale systems.

  • Data item fields can be configured through class attributes using expressions
  • Data items (points) can be optional in the object instance
  • Post Object Create script to do advanced programmatic configuration of objects as they are created
  • Flexible Historian tag naming to facilitate integration with systems using older historian collectors

Change Approval/eSignature - Achieve regulatory compliance, avoid regulatory penalties and conform with good manufacturing practices by using the new change approval feature. This feature delivers an audit trail, approval before operating, multi-signature and commenting capabilities.

Alarm variable association - CIMPLICITY 8.1 brings a new ability to easily log up to 6 additional points when an alarm occurs or changes state. This information can be easily viewed in the A&E table and in the historical alarm viewer which enables instant analytics for quick operator resolution.

Other 8.1 development enhancements include:

  • Alarm delays for analog points can be configured per alarm limit.
  • DGR 2.1 can set it up to 100x and point attributes can now be available in playback mode.
  • New button styles that can match the native OS button styles.
  • Graphics enhancements such as rounded rectangles, new pipe shading styles, drop shadows/ or glow effects.
  • Animated gif support with variable playback speed governed by expression.
  • Built in panning support using the mouse center wheel button

What's New in Version 8.0?

  • New User Interface - Introduces a new way for developers to interact with their HMI/SCADA application. With a new look and feel for the CIMEdit development environment, based on Microsoft®-fluent User Interface (UI) technology, users will instantly realize time savings and reduced costs.
  • All new Graphics Engine - Introducing a new graphics-rendering engine for CIMPLICITY 8.0. THis includes a larger development canvas functionality for runtime and development, transparency abilities, improved gradient shading, anti-aliasing, native picture support, and a pipe object tool.
  • Dynamic Time Handling - CIMPLICITY 8.0 features a server and client side dynamic time handling capability which enables changing time zones “on the fly”.
  • Digital Graphical Replay 2.0 - CIMPLICITY 8.0 introduces Digital Graphical Replay (DGR) 2.0. DGR 2.0 is a powerful add on option that provides the ability to replay trend data as well all other data in your system -- enabling more intelligent decisionmaking and accelerated issue resolution.
  • Enhanced Security Protection - CIMPLICITY 8.0 only requires a Microsoft Windows® Vista®/Server 2008 standard user account to develop and run your SCADA application. Leave the User Account Protection (UAP) security active and reduce your systems risk.
  • Proficy Historian Integration (100 Tags Included). Forming a powerful combination with GE Intelligent Platforms’s Proficy Historian and now includes a Historian license.
  • CIMPLICITY 8.0 Now supports Microsoft® Vista SP1 and Windows® Server 2008 as well as existing support for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003
