Manufacturing Intelligence Framework
Proficy Portal leverages Sun Microsystems Java to provide a rich, web based environment for developing and deploying visualization, analytical and reporting applications. As a pure web-based application, Proficy Portal allows the end user unprecedented access to data and control over how to visualize and analyze it – all in a simple, easy to use and near-zero-maintenance environment that is script and HTML free.

  • Script and HTML free environment means end users, not programmers, can customize Proficy Portal displays, analysis and reports, and publish them directly to the web.

Time-based Data Analysis

Graphical Presentation

Enterprise-wide Quality
Enterprise-wide quality takes data from other GE Intelligent Platforms Quality applications (Proficy Shop Floor SPC, Proficy Quality) and other third party or legacy systems and provides SPC charts and components for monitoring and performing root cause analysis. This feature supports consistency, quality, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement initiatives across the plant and across the entire organization. As the web client for the entire GE Intelligent Platforms software portfolio, Proficy Portal provides a consistent set of tools for analyzing and reporting disparate process, lab and shopfloor SPC systems, along with interfaces to off line Six Sigma tools such as Minitab.

Proficy Real-Time Portal is GE Intelligent Platforms’s web-based application that provides advanced analysis, reporting and visualization capabilities. As the web client for the entire GE Intelligent Platforms product family as well as other third party plant systems, Proficy Portal brings together all of your process and on-line data and it just got better with the upcoming release of Service Pack 1 with the following new features:

Virtualization Support
Many companies are reducing their costs and increasing their IT operation efficiencies by leveraging the benefits of server virtualization. GE Intelligent Platforms is taking the right steps to support these initiatives. Proficy Real-Time Information Portal will be supported on VMware ESX Server with Service Pack 1. You now have an offering that supports a virtualization strategy for IT systems.

Performance Enhancements
Performance has been improved in several ways which will greatly improve the customers’ experience. These improvements address the method of data transfer, the number of data sources, and large data sets. Testing was done over a range of concurrent users, number of data sources, and varying network speeds. The following chart shows performance increases of up to 76%.

Portal Performance


Infrastructure upgrades
Proficy Real-Time Information Portal will be upgraded to work the latest versions if Internet Explorer and Proficy Plant Applications. Internet Explorer 7 along with Plant Applications 4.4.1 will be tested and qualified for use with making portal more usable than ever.

Java Engine Upgrade
The Java engine has been upgraded to fix a memory leak bug that would cause performance issues over time.

Support Cases resolved
GE Intelligent Platforms is dedicated to providing quality software and solutions. Service Pack 1 will demonstrate the by fixing 68+ technical support cases. Be sure to read the Important Product Information (IPI) file in the help after installing SP1 for details.

SIM rollup
Finally, Proficy Real-Time Information Portal Service Pack 1 will also roll up all prior “software improvement modules” or SIMs into this release. No longer will you have to search, download, and install each individual fix to your installation of Portal.
