Frankfurt, 12.06.2012– With four of its business units present at the Achema fair in Frankfurt, Germany, GE (NYSE: GE) will be displaying a wide range of innovative solutions to the visitors of this year’s world forum of the process industry, which will take place between June 18th and 22nd. Across a variety of process related fields GE’s leading technology is providing answers to the most pressing challenges of the process industry, catering to the individual needs of its customers in order to optimize efficiency, productivity and safety. GE Intelligent Platforms will be presenting the Wolverine III, a rugged flat panel computer engineered in Germany to deliver high performance, reliability and maintainability under any condition. It is designed specifically to withstand the rigors of deployment in harsh, hazardous (HAZLOC) applications such as oil and gas exploration and production where salt, spray, dust, shock, vibration and extremes of temperature provide the most challenging environments for computers. Another solution for the harsh and rugged environments found in process plants around the world delivered by GE Intelligent Platforms is the PAC8000 controller. In combination with Proficy® Process Systems, GE’s fully integrated system for process automation and control, this solution is able to optimize operational performance and maximize uptime and productivity. “These two unique technologies are changing what’s possible in process, by delivering the results businesses demand,” says Marcel Van Helten, General Manager Germany at GE Intelligent Platforms. “Their ability to withstand the conditions of almost every possible harsh, hazardous environment makes them the ideal solution for DCS customers in industries such as Oil and Gas or Petrochemicals.” At GE Measurement & Control, visitors will be able to experience a wide range of products and solutions. These include the Bently Nevada machinery protection and condition monitoring systems ranging from the recently launched SCOUT suite of portable vibration monitoring and analysis instruments to the 3500Encore continuous condition monitoring system and the market-leading System 1 condition monitoring software platform. On show from the Measurement Solutions business will be portable calibration instrumentation, the 4Sight calibration and maintenance software, the business’s extensive range of ultrasonic, vortex and coriolis flow meters, including the latest in liquid custody transfer and high temperature flowmetering, as well as business’s offering in moisture measurement including the Aurora laser hygrometer. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the company’s comprehensive portfolio of control and relief valves and valve positioners as well as its Roots blowers and compressors. “Our products, systems and solutions are used throughout the chemical, process and oil and gas sectors,” explains Tim Povall, General Manager Europe for Measurement & Control. “We develop pressure sensors for sub-sea, condition monitoring systems for offshore platforms, water trace detection instruments for LNG transfer and flow metering, pressure sensing and calibration and valve solutions for every aspect of the chemical process and oil refining sector, ensuring that our customers can operate their plants and processes at optimum efficiency and safety.” GE Water & Process Technologies is committed to providing customers with innovative and responsible solutions to the hurdles they face now and in the future and is investing in clean research and development of solutions that help to meet the world’s most pressing energy and water challenges. GE’s membrane treatment systems filter water, handle fluids, concentrate solutions, recover byproducts, and treat wastewater for recycling or discharge. At the Achema fair, GE will exhibit pure water standard brackish and low energy membranes with high rejection performance as well as a wide range of depth and pleated filters for pre-filtration and high end-filtration. GE experts will also provide information on other water purifying products and solutions GE has to offer, including electrodialysis/electrodialysis reversal systems and electrodeionization equipment in numerous configurations that meet every need and budget. GE also offers a broad portfolio of ultrapure water solutions, including: separation equipment, membrane and filtration technology, monitoring solutions, analytical instruments, specialty chemicals, mobile water capabilities, service, financing and balance of plant. Today, GE's installed ultrapure water (UPW) systems purify and reclaim more than 2 billion gallons (8 million cubic meters) of water a day for a variety of purposes, including power generation, industrial processes, municipal drinking water, commercial and institutional uses, and landscape and agricultural irrigation. “Water is one of the world’s most valuable resources”, explains Martin Reeh, Product Sales Leader Europe and Subsahara Africa, GE Power & Water. “Every day, we invest in developing new technologies to meet industry challenges, from reducing the total cost of producing water to reducing waterborne diseases and to providing environmentally friendly chemicals. In 2010 alone, GE has invested more than US$1.5 billion in clean research and development.” GE Industrial Solutions is going to present products delivering high system availability and reduced maintenance costs, including EntelliPro, EntelliGuardTM G and UnibisTM. EntelliPro is GE Energy’s intelligent low voltage motor management and protection system. It has received the official EU ATEX certificate allowing the system to be used for protection of motors in potentially explosive atmospheres. The certificate was issued by the German certifying body, PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt). “Based on more than 20 years of experience in intelligent motor management technologies, GE EntelliPro motor control and protection systems are pre-programmed for most applications and configurable to customer requirements”, says Christophe Poméon, Managing Director, GE Industrial Solutions. “EntelliPro is designed for the use in power plants, the chemical, petrochemical, paper and steel industry, oil and gas production, waste disposal, and water treatment. EntelliPro can interface with process control and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and features advanced Human-Machine Interface (HMI) touch panels that offer the user high levels of information availability and trouble-shooting capability.” Furthermore, GE Industrial Solutions will also exhibit EntelliGuardTM G - the uncompromising Power Circuit Breaker – at the Achema. EntelliGuardTM G is a new line of Air Circuit Breakers that offers a global product platform meeting standards by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The range consists of three and four pole devices ranging from 400 to 6400A in three basic frames with fault interruption ratings of up to 150kA. Its design offers a unique combination of high fault current withstand ratings, short fault interruption times and selectivity. The device includes a new state-of-the-art trip unit that equips the breaker with the latest technology for system safety, reliability, measurement, relaying, and communications using the Modbus or Profibus Protocol. EntelliGuardTM G from GE Industrial Solutions is easy to install, selective, fast and uncompromising regarding safety and reliability. In addition GE Industrial Solutions will showcase UnibisTM - Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB’s), creating 50 percent more space in the distribution board. Unibis™ MCB’s combine 2 poles in 1 module. The selection contains up to 32A, 3, 4.5, and 6kA performances, each with 2, 3 and 4 poles and B & C characteristics, in a housing of maximum 2 modules wide. It is the customers’ choice to opt for more expansion in the existing box, or for a compact aesthetic box. Unibis™ MCB's are therefore the ideal solution for renovations where a lack of space in existing distribution boards is a frequent problem. Even in machine engineering, Unibis™ is the answer to the demand for compact electrical switchboards. The range includes a worldwide innovation: a one module MCB with 2 independent circuits (switchable separately by double toggle). Moreover, GE Healthcare’s Life Sciences Truck will stop by at the Achema on its current ReadyToRock Tour through Europe: More than a mobile showroom, the ReadyToRock Tour comprises a complete suite of flexible, single-use products configured for vaccine or MAb production. It’s also a great opportunity to consult one-on-one with specialists and listen to informative sessions on single-use applications and process design considerations. Here, Achema visitors can learn more about important aspects to consider when implementing ready to use, single-use systems – regulatory aspects, leachables and extractables, environmental impact and more. “The ReadyToProcess platform comprises single-use, ready to use products and components that span biopharmaceutical processing from upstream to downstream,” says Dr. Frieder Schwald, Regional Sales Manager BioProcess Germany. “The ReadyToProcess platform includes bioreactors, filters, tubing and connectors, chromatography systems and columns all preconditioned, ready to plug in and use.
