GE Intelligent Platforms and Ingersoll-Rand recently signed of a cooperative agreement to develop an automation platform to meet the energy and operational efficiency needs of data centers. The two companies will work together to develop intelligent offerings that include the world-class industrial solutions of GE and the industry-leading HVAC expertise of Trane, a business of Ingersoll Rand. The solutions will tackle asset optimization, platform integration, reporting and analytics across systems, and remote monitoring and services enablers.

On January 6, GE Intelligent Platforms announced the acquisition of SmartSignal, an analytics software company specializing in providing Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics solutions to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas and other industrial sectors. "The acquisition of SmartSignal will serve as an important catalyst to rapidly expand the capabilities of our Operational Intelligence platform," said Maryrose Sylvester, President & CEO for GE Intelligent Platforms.
SmartSignal is a leading provider of predictive diagnostic software and monitoring services used to anticipate, prevent, and avoid equipment failure. The company has more than 40 product and technology patents, and has won more than 25 awards for product excellence.
