Bayou Ice, based in Port Allen, Louisiana, bought 12 ice vending
machines from Ice House America, which they operate in four parishes
in Louisiana. The company also maintains another nine machines
around the state. The state-of-the art machines are controlled by a
PLC that allows the dispensing of ice in either 16-pound bags or loosely
in 20-pound bulk increments. The ice generally costs between $1.25
and $1.50. The machines reside in convenient locations for consumers
to procure ice 24-hours per day.
