GE Intelligent Platforms REACH Compliance

The Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation 1907/2006, commonly referred to as "REACH", is Europe's chemicals legislation, which is applicable in all European Union Member States and Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland.

REACH “Article” and SVHC Declaration for GE Intelligent Platforms Products

The electronic products produced and offered by GE Intelligent Platforms or its subsidiaries are considered "Articles" under the definition of the European Union’s Regulation N° 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) entered into force on 1 June 2007.

Within the REACH regulation (Article 3, paragraph 3) an "article" is defined as:

3) Article: means an object which during production is given a special shape, surface or design which determines its function to a greater degree than its chemical composition.

Current GE Intelligent Platforms products, as provided, do not intentionally release a chemical substance and, based on current information, do not contain any substance meeting the criteria of "Substances of Very High Concern" (SVHC)" in sufficient amount to trigger notification.  As such, no registration or notification obligations exist for these products under REACH.

Should articles produced and/or brought to market by GE Intelligent Platforms or its subsidiaries, be identified as containing SVHC substances identified on the ECHA “Candidate List” (including future updates), in a concentration above 0.1% (w/w), GE Intelligent Platforms will provide sufficient information, available to us, to our customers and on request to a consumer within 45 days of the receipt of this request. This information will state safe use of the article and, at a minimum, include the name of the substance.

GE Intelligent Platforms Products Known to Contain SVHC Substances >0.1% by Weight

Additional Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) FAQs:

1. Has GE Intelligent Platforms initiated a process to comply with pre-registration or registration obligations?
   
   GE Intelligent Platforms products that are produced in the EU, and those that are imported into the EU, are considered articles under the REACH regulation. These products do not contain substances that are intended to be released during the normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of the product’s use as, defined by the REACH Regulation and guidance. In addition, we do not manufacture any chemical substances, nor do we import any into the EU. Therefore, it is our understanding that GE Intelligent Platforms does not have a pre-registration or registration obligation.
   
   We are contacting our suppliers, and confirming that they will meet their pre-registration and registration requirements under REACH in order to ensure our supply chain will not be interrupted as a result of REACH.
    
2. Will you discontinue any products as a result of REACH?
    
   GE Intelligent Platforms does not currently plan to discontinue any products as a result of the REACH regulatory requirements.
